There were moments that passed
Terrorized moments as time drew itself out
To have several moments pass, but only one thought
The thought that no one wants to think: I am not real and this is not happening
Even if you're standing in front of a tree in someone's yard on the sidewalk
Cars passing with children screaming in the back yard
The one horrific thought can no longer be blocked out: I am not real and this is not happening
This is not a dream, becuase a dream is something
This is nothing; it is not real
I could only do one thing
Panic and run
Run to the nearest thing that was so familiar it had to be real: the nearest bar, even though I'd never been there before, it was the most famliar place possible
It was a real-enough bar with real-enough drinks
I ordered two, just to make sure I would get one
The bartender said, "you can only have one-at-a-time"
I said, "I don't have time This world has to become real"
Each sip became more real until I was drunk and everything felt right and reasonable, just like I had last left it
